Thinking of You Often, Sending Hugs

I love classes that inspire me to look at familiar techniques in a new way. This lesson sparked so many ideas for creative stencil use while also renewing my appreciation for tried-and-true methods—especially when working with a beautiful product like the Meadow Burst Layering Stencil.

With that inspiration in mind, I began by gathering the cardstock, inks, stencils, dies, and finishing details needed to bring the design together. Having each element ready from the start makes it easier to focus on the layering process and enjoy how the colors and textures build into the finished card.

Ingredients

·        Neenah Classic Solar Crest 100 lb white cardstock

·        Altenew Purple Wine Cardstock

·        Altenew Olive Cardstock

·        Meadow Burst Layering Stencil

·        Mini Flower Cluster Layering Die Set

·        Honorable Sentiments from Secret Garden Retreat 2026, or any sentiment set you have

·        Antique Gold Pigment Ink, for splatter and edging card panels

·        Black acrylic paint, for splatter

·        Glue

Altenew Inks

·        Fresh Leaf

·        Reindeer Moss

·        Mossy Meadow

·        Green Opal

·        Swamp Green

·        Oak Moss

·        Misty Sage

·        Honeydew Glow

·        Puffy Heart

·        Purple Wine

·        Cosmic Berry

Instructions

1.      From white cardstock, cut a 4¼" × 5½" card base.

2.      From Purple Wine cardstock, cut a 4¼" × 5½" card panel.

3.      From Olive cardstock, cut a 4" × 5¼" card panel.

4.      From white cardstock, cut a 3¾" × 5" card panel.

5.      On the white card panel, blend Honeydew Glow ink into a light oval in the center. Keep it darker in the center and lighter as it radiates toward the edges.

6.      On the same panel, color the Meadow Burst Layering Stencil. Use the first four stencils for the leaves, varying the green ink combinations for each type of leaf. Use Cosmic Berry with the fifth stencil for the flowers.

7.      Die cut the Mini Flower Cluster. Color the flower layers with Green Opal, Cosmic Berry, Purple Wine, and Puffy Heart. Color the flower centers with Mossy Meadow.

8.      Color the leaf layers with Oak Moss, Swamp Green, and Misty Sage.

9.      Glue the die-cut pieces together according to the die set instructions. Arrange and adhere the finished leaves and flower cluster in the center of the stenciled Meadow Burst.

10.  Splatter the white card panel with black acrylic paint and Antique Gold Pigment Ink.

11.  Stamp and die cut the sentiments, doubling up the die cuts for dimension and strength. Adhere the sentiments to the white card panel.

12.  Edge the white, olive, and Purple Wine card panels with Antique Gold Pigment Ink. Allow to dry or use a heating tool.

13.  Adhere the Purple Wine card panel to the white card base. Adhere the Olive card panel to the Purple Wine panel. Adhere the white card panel to the Olive panel.
